Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is a graduate physical impact on soft tissues for medical, preventive and rehabilitational purposes.

Massage has beneficial effect on immediately affected parts of the body and on the whole organism as well. As for the body as a whole, massage improves blood circulation, tissue metabolism, enhances body resistance to infections, improves the psychoemotional state, sleep and mood. At the local level massage enhances the functioning of sweat and sebaceous glands, encourages the removal of moribund skin layers. The skin becomes firm and elastic. Massage strengthens the musculoskeletal system, tones up the muscular system, increases elasticity and contractility of muscles, elasticity and mobility of the ligament system.

Main effects of therapeutic massage: tonic, actoprotector, vasoactive, trophic, drainage, immunostimulatory, sedative, analgetic.

Therapeutic massage is applied for treatment of: musculoskeletal system diseases and traumas, diseases and consequences of traumas of the central nervous system, peripheral nervous system diseases and traumas, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory and digestive diseases, diseases of the genitourinary system, peritoneal commissures, obesity, gout, scleroderma.

Counterindications to massage: purulent inflammatory diseases of various localization, pustular and fungal diseases of skin and its derivatives, acute respiratory diseases, tonsillitis, acute period of traumas with a hematoma, gastric and duodenal ulcer in the exacerbation phase and associated with the risk of hemorrhage, uterine hemorrhage, thrombophlebitis, varicose veins, persistent wounds and ischemic ulcers, lymphatitis, acute pains, causalgia, skin lesions and hernia in the area of manipulation.
